In 2024, Russia's grain and processed grain product exports reached 86.7 million tons (+2.8 compared to 2023). Grain exports totaled 73.1 million tons (+4), including 57.5 million tons of wheat, 8.2 million tons of barley, and 6.7 million tons of corn.
For the week starting January 15, 2025, the export tax on Russian wheat will be 4,245 rubles/ton (previously set at 4,346.1 rubles two days earlier). The export tax on barley will be 2,542.9 rubles/ton (previously 2,220.1), and the export tax on corn will be 4,436.4 rubles/ton (previously 4,366.5).
In 2024, Russia's rice production reached a record 1.26 million tons (+17.2% compared to 2023). The cultivated area for rice was 209,900 hectares (+8.9%), and yields also reached a record high of 5.11 tons/hectare (+5.6%).
Between July 1, 2024, and January 10, 2025, Ukraine exported 22.622 million tons of grain (19.881 million tons in the same period the previous year), including 0.885 million tons in January (1.415 million tons last year). Exports included 10.074 million tons of wheat (7.962), 10.244 million tons of corn (10.612), and 1.976 million tons of barley (1.163).
Turkey has set duty-free import quotas for sunflower seeds and sunseed oil for the period January 1 to April 30, 2025, amounting to 1 million tons of sunflower seeds and 400,000 tons of sunseed oil. Previously, the import taxes for these products were 12% and 20%, respectively. The USDA's FAS has lowered its 2024 sunseed production forecast by 0.3 million tons to 1.25 million tons.
In the first 22 weeks of the current season, Canada exported 23.4 million tons of grains and oilseeds (+22% compared to the previous year). Exports included 8.7 million tons of soft wheat (-4%), 2.3 million tons of durum wheat (+82%), 1 million tons of barley (+20%), 1.3 million tons of peas (+35%), 3 million tons of soybeans (+14%), and 4.7 million tons of canola (+88%).
On January 8, 2025, South Korea's FLC company purchased 65,000 tons of U.S. feed wheat at a price of 249.99 USD/ton, with delivery scheduled for late March.
By the end of December, palm oil stocks in Malaysia stood at 1.71 million tons (-6.91% compared to November), the lowest level in 19 months. Crude palm oil production fell by 8.3% to 1.49 million tons, the lowest level since March 2024, while exports amounted to 1.34 million tons (-9.97%). Domestic consumption in December reached 309,000 tons (+53%).
