According to Cargill's forecast, corn exports from Brazil during the current season 2023/24 may significantly decrease. In this scenario, Brazil will be displaced as the leading exporter of the crop in the world by the USA. Brazilian corn remains competitive, but there won't be quantities for larger exports. The corn production is expected to decrease by 21 million tons compared to 2022/23. The development of the second corn crop is good, and there's nothing to prevent a normal production. According to Conab's data, exports during the season will be 31 million tons /55 in 2022/23, when a record was achieved/. In April, Conab's forecast for the production was 111 million tons /-16% compared to 2022/23/. Meanwhile, Ukraine has almost exhausted its export potential, with only about 1.5 million tons left for export, an amount that, at the current export pace, would last for 2-3 weeks. On the market, there are still significant quantities from the USA, which can be sold at a high price. Brazilian corn will be on the market in July.

Given the record-high wheat production in Pakistan, the government has decided to reduce state purchases, and they will be 2 million tons in the new season /5.6 years earlier/. The price of wheat that the state will buy is above 350 USD/ton. The government emphasizes the argument for the change - high reserves of imported wheat in the country. Farmers have immediately started striking because they will be forced to sell their production at market prices rather than higher government rates.
