Grain Highlights 26.07.2023

The European Commission has stated that the EU will provide assistance for the export of the entire possible quantity of Ukrainian grain during 2023/24. A monthly export of 4 million tons of grain is required.

In the southern parts of Russia, about 19% of the harvested wheat is of the third class, 18% is of the fifth class, and the majority is of the fourth class.

As of July 20, 2023, 14% of the wheat areas have been harvested in Russia (22% less compared to the previous year), which is a record low value. SovEcon expects the wheat production to reach 86.8 million tons.

During the period from July 1 to July 26, Ukraine has exported 1.905 million tons of grain (1.405 million tons the previous year), including 649,000 tons of wheat (325,000 tons), 238,000 tons of barley (31,000 tons), and 1.014 million tons of corn (941,000 tons).

Iran is seeking to purchase 120,000 tons of corn and 120,000 tons of soymeal from Brazil or Argentina with delivery within August - September.

In July, vegetable oil deliveries to India reach 1.86 million tons, which is 60% more than usual. During the period from July 1 to July 24, imports were 1.5 million tons, and an additional 386,000 tons are expected by the end of the month. Palm oil imports will reach 1 million tons (the maximum in the last 7 months), sunseed oil imports are expected at 385,000 tons (the maximum in the last 6 months), and soyoil imports are projected at 475,000 tons (the maximum in the last year).
