- In the first half of 2022/23, wheat exports from Russia were 22.7 million tons (+0.2 a year earlier) against a forecast for the entire season of 44.3 million tons, according to SovEcon data.
- IKAR estimates the need to resow areas with winter crops in Russia in the spring of 2023 in the amount of 1 million hectares (0.8 – 0.85 in the previous estimate). In autumn, 17.7 million hectares were sown with winter crops (18.4 in autumn 2021).
- Ukraine exported 213,000 tons of rapeseed in December, an unusually high level, although it was 60% below November's level. In the first half of 2022/23, exports were 3.06 million tons (+16%). In 2022, rapeseed production reached 3.44 million tons (+1% compared to the December estimate and +9% compared to 2021). Exports for the year will be 3.24 million tons (+2% and +19%).
- As of 01.01.2023, grain stocks in Kazakhstan were 15.77 million tons (16.99 a year earlier), including wheat stocks of 13.06 million tons, barley stocks of 1.8 million tons and corn stocks of 176,040 tons.
- Chicago commodity funds were net sellers of 4,000 corn contracts and net buyers of 5,000 soybeans and 3,500 wheat contracts yesterday.
- According to government data, corn imports into Mexico will decrease by 30-40% by 2024. The country's white corn production is sufficient to meet domestic demand, but the shortage is in yellow corn, which is mainly imported from the United States.
- According to data from AmSpec Agri Malaysia, over the period of January 1 – 25, palm oil exports from Malaysia reached 823,300 tons (1.22 million tons a year earlier).
- The Government of India will release 3 million tons of wheat from the state reserve after the price on the domestic market reached a new record – over 360 USD/ton.
