Grain Highlights 15.07.2021

As of July 14, 2021, 4.3 million hectares of cereals have been harvested in Russia. 14.9 million tons of grain were harvested at an average yield of 3.45 tons/hectare (3.27 tons/hectare in 2020).

The harvested wheat is 10.6 million tons at an average yield of 3.41 tons/hectare (3.38 tons/hectare a year earlier). 2.7 million tons of barley were harvested at an average yield of 3.93 tons/hectare (3.2).

- ICAR reduces its forecast for the Russian wheat production in 2021 from 83.5 million tons to 81.5 million tons.

- According to APC-Inform, 266,400 tons of sunseed oil were exported from Russian ports in June. In May, exports were 313,500 tons.

- In their July report, analysts from Strategie Grains have raised their forecast for the EU soft wheat production in 2021 to 133 million tons, which is 1.9 million tons more than the June estimate and 14 million tons more than 2020. In the new season, exports will reach 31 million tons (+2.4 and +4.1). The barley production is estimated at 55 million tons (53.9 and -0.4 million tons). Exports of barley are projected at 7.2 million tons (+0.5 and -0.1). The corn production is pridected to reach 65.7 million tons (65.3).

- The Association of Farmers' Cooperatives in Germany has lowered its forecast for the wheat production in the country in 2021 to 22.8 million tons (22.98), which is still 3.2% more than the wheat production in 2020. The winter oilseed rape production is expected to reach 3.67 million. tons (+4.7% for the year).

- Yesterday, commodity funds in Chicago were net buyers of 17,500 corn contracts, 13,000 soybean contracts and 10,000 wheat contracts.

-Anec has raised its forecast for the corn exports from Brazil in July from 2.5 million tons to 3 million tons. In July 2020, exports were 5.1 million tons. During the month, soybean exports will be 9 million tons (10.1).

- The Vietnamese authorities have reduced the import tax on wheat from 3% to 0% and the import tax on corn from 5% to 3%. USDA expects the import of wheat in the country in 2021/22 to reach 3.65 million tons (3.4 million tons in 2020/21) and corn imports are projected at 12.7 million tons (13.5).
