Grain Highlights 20.09.2021

According to the forecast of the Association of Corn Producers in Brazil, the first corn production in the country will reach 32 million tons in 2021/22, which is 7 million tons more than the previous year.

- On Friday, commodity funds in Chicago were net sellers of 2,500 contracts of corn, 5,500 contracts of soybeans and 2,500 contracts of wheat.

- In the week ending 09.09.2021, export sales of soybeans from the United States were 1,266,200 tons, which is the peak of market expectations. Export commitments reached 22.29 million tons compared to 32.23 million tons a year earlier.

- According to the forecast of the Association of Corn Producers in Brazil, the first corn production in the country will reach 32 million tons in 2021/22, which is 7 million tons more than the previous year. There is good moisture storage in Rio Grande do Sul, where over 50% of the corn crops are grown.

- The Buenos Aires Grain Exchange forecasts soybean areas in Argentina in 2022 of 16.5 million hectares (-2.4% compared to 2021), which is the lowest level in 15 years. Sowing will begin in late October and the harvesting campaign of soybean will beign in March.

Over the week, China canceled the purchase of 328,000 tons of soybeans from the United States.

- According to the General Customs Service of China, the country imported 9.04 million tons of soybeans from Brazil in August, which is 10.9% more than in August 2020 - 8.15 million tons. Deliveries from the United States were 17,570 tons (166,370). The total import for the month reached 9.49 million tons (9.6). Corn imports in August were 3.2 million tons (+ 300%), wheat imports were 710,000 tons (+1.1%), barley imports reached 690,000 tons (+55%).

- Egypt's state-owned company GASC has announced a tender for the purchase of 30,000 tons of soyoil and 10,000 tons of sunseed oil.

- Pakistan has received offers to buy wheat at a price of 383.5 - 393.3 USD/ton C&F and delivery within November - December.

- The Malaysian Palm Oil Council maintains unchanged the export tax on unrefined palm oil for October at 8% at a reference price of 1,068.18 USD/ton.

- According to the forecast of S&P Global Platts, soybean production in India will be 10.8 million tons in 2021/22 compared to 12.9 million tons in 2020/21. Soyoil imports will reach 3.3 million tons.
