- SovEcon has lowered its forecast for wheat exports from Russia in 2021/22 by 1.3 million tons to 37.1 million tons. The wheat production is projected at 82.3 million tons.
- As of July 28, 2021, 15.4 million hectares of cereals were harvested in Russia, 50.9 million tons of grain were harvested at an average yield of 3.3 tons/hectare (3.45 tons/hectare in 2020). 11.3 million hectares were harvested with wheat, 39.2 million tons of wheat were harvested at a yield of 3.46 tons/hectare (3.29). 2.5 million hectares were harvested with barley, 7.7 million tons of barley were harvested at an average yield of 3.08 tons/hectare (3.29).
- ProZerno lowered its forecast for the grain production in Russia in 2021 by 8% compared to 2020 to 124 million tons. The reduction is due to the drought in the country in recent weeks.
- APC-Inform has increased its forecast for the grain production in Ukraine in 2021 to 75.6 million tons (73.8 million tons in June and 64.9 million tons in 2020). The wheat production is expected to reach 28.3 million tons (+14% compared to 2020), barley production is estimated at 8 million tons (+5%) and corn production is predicted at 36.2 million tons (+22%).
- The drought in the autumn of 2020 reduced rapeseed areas in Ukraine by 19% compared to 2019 to 1.05 million hectares. Rainfall in recent months will increase rapeseed yields to a record high, which will generally push the rapeseed production up by 2-3%.
- Oil World has lowered its forecast for the canola production in Canada in 2021 by 1.7 million tons to 16.9 million tons, which is 2 million tons below the 2020 figure. In June, the country exported the minimum for the last 21 months canola of 594,000 tons (724,000 tons in May and 824,000 tons in June 2020). Since the beginning of the season, exports have reached a total of 9.9 million tons (9.3).
- The corn production in Brazil will fall below 90 million tons compared to 102.5 million tons in 2020.
- The Ministry of Agriculture of Argentina forecasts record areas with winter crops in 2021/22 of 8.25 million hectares, including wheat areas of 6.95 million hectares (+3.75% compared to 2020/21) and barley areas of 1.3 million hectares (+4%).
- Qatar has announced a tender for the purchase of 100,000 tons of feed barley of any origin and delivery within October-November.
- On July 27, 2021, Jordan purchased 60,000 tons of Romanian milling wheat at a price of 285 USD/ton C&F and delivery in early 2022.
