- During the period from July 1, 2023, to January 24, 2024, Ukraine exported 22.147 million tons of grain (25.741 million tons the previous year), including 3.682 million tons in January (2.996 million tons). The exports consisted of 8.72 million tons of wheat (9.281 million tons), 1.273 million tons of barley (1.788 million tons), and 12.003 million tons of corn (14.571 million tons).
- Ukraine is expected to export 36 to 40 million tons of agricultural products by the end of 2023/24. As of the beginning of January, 2 million tons of grain have been exported through the Black Sea. Currently, 36 ships are being loaded in Ukrainian ports. The total export of grain crops for 2023/24 is projected to reach 50 million tons, and for oilseeds, it is estimated at 10 million tons.
- According to FedOil's estimate in December 2023, oilseed processing in the EU reached 3.9 million tons (+9% compared to November and 3.3 million tons in December 2022). Rapeseed processing amounted to 1.8 million tons, soybean processing reached 1.1 million tons, and sunseed processing was 0.68 million tons. The total processing for 2023 reached 38.9 million tons (36.9 million tons), including 13.2 million tons of soybeans, 6.2 million tons of sunseed, and 19.4 million tons of rapeseed.
- Government data indicates that wheat imports to Brazil are expected to increase in 2024 following a 27% decline in the production. Imports were 4.2 million tons in 2023 and 5.7 million tons in 2022.
- According to Conab data as of January 20, 2024, in Brazil, 5% of the planned areas for second corn crop have been planted (+4% for the week). Soybean harvesting has reached 5% of the areas (+3% for the week and +2% compared to the previous year), and first corn crop harvesting has been completed on 9% of the areas (+2% for the week and +5% compared to the previous year).
- According to an estimate by the Rosario Grain Exchange, soybean processing in Argentina reached 27 million tons in 2023 (-29% compared to 2022), the lowest level since 2004.
- In December 2023, the import of rapeseed and sunseed meal continued to rise in China. Deliveries of rapeseed meal were 272,000 tons (221,000 tons in December 2022), and sunseed meal was 353,000 tons (309,000 tons). The largest suppliers of sunseed meal were Ukraine with 218,000 tons and Bulgaria with 129,000 tons. For rapeseed meal, Canada supplied 168,000 tons, the UAE 50,000 tons, and Ukraine 40,000 tons. Throughout 2023, the import of major meals in China was 8.7 million tons (+12%), including 2.9 million tons of sunseed meal, 2.3 million tons of rapeseed meal, and 1.4 million tons of palm kernel meal.
