Grain Highlights 31.05.2021

Over the period of June 2-8, the export taxes in Russia will be 28.1 USD/ton for wheat, 39.6 USD/ton for barley and 52.2 USD/ton for corn.

- During the period of June 2-8, the export taxes in Russia will be:

  • wheat - 28.1 USD/ton
  • barley - 39.6 USD/ton
  • corn - 52.2 USD / ton

The indicative prices for calculating the export taxes are 240.2 USD/ton for wheat, 241.7 USD/ton for barley and 259.7 USD/ton for corn.

- ICAR has raised its forecast for the wheat production in Russia in 2021 by 0.5 million tons to 79.5 million tons.

- SovEcon has lowered its forecast for the Russian wheat production in 2021 from 81.7 million tons to 80.9 million tons.

- During the week of May 24-30, 271,692 tons of grain were exported from the Russian port of Novorossiysk, which is twice as much as the previous week and 63.2% more than the previous year. 26,500 tons of wheat, 52,028 tons of barley and 193,164 tons of corn were exported.

- Over the period of January - April 2021, the unrefined soyoil production in Ukraine reached 74,560 tons, which is 29.2% less than the previous year.

- According to the USDA forecast, oil production in Romania will increase by 36% in 2021/22 compared to 2020. The rapeseed production will reach 1.15 million tons (+59%) and rapeseed exports are projected at 804,000 tons (509,000). Sunseed production in Romania is expected at 2.7 million tons (+29%) and sunseed exports at 1.58 million tons (+39%). Soybean production is expected to reach 380,000 tons (+36%) with exports of 205,000 tons (+28%).

- In their May report, analysts from Strategie Grains left their forecast for the EU rapeseed production in 2021 unchanged at 16.78 million tons. In 2020, the rapeseed production reached 16.45 million tons.

- On Friday, commodity funds in Chicago were net sellers of 17,500 corn contracts, 4,000 soybean contracts and 5,000 wheat contracts.

- In April, wheat imports in Brazil reached 463,265 tons, which is 24.2% less than in March and 38.1% less than in April 2020. The largest supplier was Argentina with a share of 93%. In the first 4 months of the year, wheat imports reached 2.165 million tons (-15.9%) and Argentina accounted for 88.6% of wheat imports.

- According to the Buenos Aires Grain Exchange, the soybean production in Argentina will reach 43.5 million tons in 2020/21(43 million tons in the previous estimate). The harvesting campaign is now completed on 91.5% of the areas.

- On 28.05.2021, Saudi Arabia bought 562,000 tons of durum wheat 12.5% ​​compared to the planned 720,000 tons. The average purchase price was 299.55 USD/ton and delivery will take place within August - September.

- Algeria bought up to 200,000 tons of durum wheat at a price of 380 - 385 USD/ton C&F and delivery in July.

- As of May 27, 2021, the authorities in India have purchased a record 40 million tons of wheat from the new crop from local farmers. Last year, purchases were 38.99 million tons. The campaign is not over yet and a total of 43.34 million tons of wheat is expected to be purchased.
