Political tensions between Algeria and France are affecting their trade relations. In a recent wheat purchase tender, Algeria requested that no contracts be signed for wheat deliveries from France.
The Russian Grain Exporters Union forecasts the country's total grain production in 2024 at 124.6 million tons (-1% from the previous estimate), including 83.1 million tons of wheat (-0.4%), 17.7 million tons of barley (-0.6%), and 12.2 million tons of corn (-3.9%).
As of October 3, 2024, in Ukraine, 8.531 million hectares have been harvested with grain crops (77% of the planned area), yielding 37.262 million tons of grain with an average yield of 4.24 tons per hectare.
In September, Russia exported 5.76 million tons of grain (-25% compared to September 2023), including 5.286 million tons of wheat (-16%), 340,000 tons of barley (compared to 1,104,000), and 133,000 tons of corn (compared to 285,400).
