According to ProZerno, in 2024, the grain production in Russia will reach 135 – 136 million tons (compared to 144.9 million in 2023). Wheat production will be 88 million tons (92.8), barley production is projected at 18 million tons (21.1) and corn production is expected to reach 15 million tons (16.6). In 2024/25, grain exports will be 55.2 million tons (69.2), including wheat exports of 43.2 million tons (52). In the first 9 months of the current season, grain exports from Russia are 50 million tons (+10).
In May, the export tax on Russian sunseed oil will remain zero, while on meal it will be 2,389.6 rubles/ton (-29.8%).
According to final statistics from Ukraine for 2023, the grain production in the country reached 59.77 million tons (+11% compared to 2022), including wheat production of 21.63 million tons (+43%), corn production of 31.03 million tons (+18%) and barley production of 5.5 million tons (-2%). The sunseed production was 12.76 million tons (+13%), rapeseed production reached 4.18 million tons (+26%) and soybean production was 4.74 million tons (+38%).
During the period from 01.07.2023 to 26.04.2024, Ukraine exported 40.289 million tons of grain (41.149 the year before), including 5.238 million tons in April (3.173). Wheat exports amounted to 15.404 million tons (1.562), barley exports reached 2.178 million tons (1.562) and corn exports were 22.231 million tons (3.461).
As of 25.04.2024, spring crop sowing in Ukraine reached 2.546 million hectares or 45.5% of the plan (5.601). Spring wheat was sown on 223,300 hectares (246,100), spring barley on 761,500 hectares (818,000), corn on 1.189 million hectares (3.912). Additionally, 2 million hectares of sunseed were planted (5.288), and 28,600 hectares of soybeans (1.99 million hectares).
Turkey has announced a tender for the import of 100,000 tons of hard wheat with delivery from 20.05 to 12.06.2024.
The European Commission has lowered its forecast for soft wheat production in the EU for 2024/25 to 120.2 million tons (120.8 in the previous estimate), the lowest level since 2020. By the end of 2024/25, soft wheat stocks will reach 12.2 million tons (12.1), considering high stocks from the current season, namely 20.4 million tons (+0.5). Exports for the new season will be 31 million tons.
In 2024/25, the production of major grain crops (wheat, oats, barley, and corn) in Canada will be 61.4 million tons (+5% compared to 2023/24) according to FAS USDA's forecast. Wheat production will reach 33.67 million tons (31.95), including 5.5 million tons of hard wheat. Wheat exports in the new season will be 24.7 million tons (23.5).
According to Canada's Ministry of Agriculture forecast for 2024/25, the oilseed production in the country will be 25.26 million tons (25.581 in 2023/24 and 25.711 in 2022/23). Canola production will be 18.1 million tons (18.328 and 18.695), while soybean production is projected at 6.9 million tons (6.981 and 6.543).
Safras&Mercado forecasts soybean exports from Brazil in 2024 at 101.86 million tons (96 in 2023). Crushing will reach 53.165 million tons (54.3), soymeal production is estimated at 41.75 million tons (unchanged), and soymeal exports are expected at 21 million tons (-7%). Soyoil production is forecasted at 10.96 million tons (+1%), and soyoil exports at 1.3 million tons (+44%). Soybean supply in the country will reach 156.54 million tons (-4%).
According to FAS USDA's forecast for 2024/25, wheat production in Morocco will be 2.3 million tons (4.16 in 2023/24), including 1.55 million tons of soft wheat and 0.75 million tons of hard wheat. Barley production will be 0.65 million tons (1.35). Wheat imports in the new season will increase to 7.5 million tons (6.5), which is 52% more than the average level of the last 10 years. Barley imports will be 1.5 million tons (1.4).
According to Oil World's estimate for January-March, global soymeal exports reached a record 17.7 million tons (+3.2 compared to the previous year). The largest exporters were Argentina with 5.23 million tons (+1.6), Brazil with 5.22 million tons (+0.7), the USA with 4.13 million tons (+0.5), and China with 0.43 million tons (0.4). The largest buyers were the EU with 4.13 million tons, Vietnam with 1.4 million tons, Indonesia with 1.41 million tons, and others.
