According to data from APK-Inform in March, 52,400 tons of sunseed were exported from Ukraine, which is twice as much as in February. Bulgaria's exports increased by 3.7 times, and Turkey's by 30%. During the period of April 1-14, exports amounted to 36,300 tons (27,000 tons more compared to the previous year), including 25,000 tons to the Netherlands. From the beginning of September until April 14, 2024, 286,300 tons of sunseed were exported, representing an 84% decrease.
From the beginning of 2023/24, Ukraine has processed a record 1 million tons of rapeseed, which accounts for 23.3% of the production, according to UkrOliyaProm data. Rapeseed oil exports are also at a record high of 400,000 tons.
According to forecasts from the French Ministry of Agriculture for 2024, the areas planted with winter cereal crops will be 6.81 million hectares (a decrease of 6.8% compared to 2023). Soft winter wheat will cover 4.34 million hectares (-7.7%), hard winter wheat areas will be 0.22 million hectares (-6.4%), and winter barley areas are expected at 1.28 million hectares (-6.1%). From April 2023 to March 2024, China imported 99.9 million tons of soybeans, including 71.4 million tons from Brazil. Additionally, 926,000 tons of soymeal were delivered, with Brazil accounting for 777,000 tons.
According to AgRural data as of April 11, 2024, 84% of the soybean areas in Brazil have been harvested, representing a 6% increase compared to the previous week.
According to the Australian Bureau of Statistics, in February, Australia exported 2.31 million tons of wheat (compared to 2.62 million tons in January and 3.04 million tons in February 2023). The largest clients were Indonesia with 62.42 million tons, Thailand with 32.73 million tons, and China with 24.63 million tons. Durum wheat exports reached 92,350 tons, with Algeria being the largest importer, marking the highest level since October 2023.
According to MPOB data, as of March, palm oil reserves in Malaysia reached 1.71 million tons (a decrease of 10.68% compared to February), production amounted to 1.39 million tons (an increase of 10.57%), and exports totaled 1.32 million tons (an increase of 28.61%).
According to FAS USDA forecasts for 2023/24, soybean imports in Taiwan will reach 2.65 million tons (a 3.5% increase compared to 2022/23), attributed to increased demand for feed.
According to FAS USDA forecasts for 2024/25, feed consumption in Vietnam will be 26.5 million tons (compared to 25.9 million tons in 2023/24), including 14.1 million tons of corn (13 million tons previously). The corn production in the country is expected to reach 3.65 million tons (3.76 million previously), with imports reaching 11 million tons (10 million previously). In 2023, 44% of the imported corn came from Brazil, 33% from Argentina, and 12% from India.
On April 15, 2024, authorities in Egypt initiated the new campaign to purchase wheat from local producers. Purchases of 3.5 million tons of wheat are planned, with farmers receiving payment within 48 hours of sale.
