Grain Highlights 26.09.2022

According to Datagro's forecast, the soybean areas in South America will reach a record 66.09 million hectares in 2022/23.

- As of September 22, 2022, 99 million tons of wheat, 25.6 million tons of barley, 1.5 million tons of corn and 2.06 million tons of sunseed were harvested in Russia.

- According to the forecast of Rusagrotrans , the export of wheat from Russia will reach 4.4 - 4.5 million tons in October (3.3 in October 2021).

- Over the week of September 19-25, 362,400 tons of wheat were exported from the Russian port of Novorossiysk, including 94,100 tons for Oman, 66,000 tons for Iran, 52,800 tons for Turkey and 31,200 tons for Brazil.

- Over the period of 01.07 - 26.09.2022, 7.51 million tons of grain were exported from Ukraine, including 3.21 million tons in September (13.135 in 21/22 and 4.37 in September 21/22). The export of wheat was 2.61 million tons, including 1.35 million tons in September (7.95 and 3.38). Barley exports were 635,000 tons, including 305,000 tons in September (3.59 million tons and 823,000). Corn exports totaled 4.23 million tons, including 1.54 million tons in September (1.40 million tons and 130,000).

- On Friday, Chicago commodity funds were net sellers of 11,000 contracts of corn, 11,500 contracts of soybeans and 9,500 contracts of wheat.

- According to data from Pátria AgroNegócios, as of 23/09/2022, 2% of the planned 2022/23 soybean crop areas were sown in Brazil. The conditions for sowing are favorable after the rains that have fallen in Mato Grosso.

- According to Datagro's forecast, the soybean area in South America will reach a record 66.09 million hectares in 2022/23. Under good climatic conditions, the production will reach 219.34 million tons (181.95 in 2021/22), including 152 million tons in Brazil, which is 70% of the continent's production.

- South Korea's NOFI has purchased 135,000 tons of feed corn with the December contract price in Chicago + 172.75 cents/ton for 68 thousand tons and + 181.4 cents/ton for 67 thousand tons. Deliveries must be completed by 23.01.2022.

- According to an estimate by Intertek Testing Services (ITS), over the period of September 1 - 25, palm oil exports from Malaysia were 1.16 million tons (966,600 tons a year earlier). China exported 190,600 tons (107,600), EU exported 243,700 tons (282,500) and India exported 200,500 tons (207,200).
