SovEcon has revised down their forecast for the wheat production in Russia for 2024/25 by 7.3 million tons to 85.7 million tons, which is 1 million tons below the average level of the last five years. Production in the central region will be 19.3 million tons /-2 compared to 2023/24/, in the southern parts of the country wheat production is expected at 32.6 million tons /-5.9/, and in the Volga region it is projected at 18.8 million tons /-0.2/.
- In April, Ukraine exported 560,000 tons of sunseed meal /+41% compared to March/, marking the highest level since February 2022.
- Since the beginning of 2023/24, sunseed oil exports from Kazakhstan have reached 254,000 tons /+66% compared to the previous season/. The largest clients are Uzbekistan with 112,400 tons, China with 58,490 tons, Tajikistan with 40,530 tons, and Afghanistan with 12,770 tons.
- As of May 12, 2024, 50% of winter wheat crops in the United States are in good or excellent condition, the highest level since 2020 /29% last year/. Corn planting reached 49% of the planned areas /+13% for the week and 54% on average for the last five years/. - Conab forecasts a soybean production in Brazil for 2023/24 of 147.7 million tons. The total soybean production will be 295.45 million tons.
