During the past week, 429,200 tons of grain were exported from the Russian port of Novorossiysk, which is 31,000 tons less than the previous week. Wheat exports reached 384,800 tons, and barley exports were 44,400 tons. The wheat was sent to Turkey (66,000 tons), Pakistan (55,000 tons), Bangladesh (50,000 tons), and other destinations, while barley was primarily for Jordan.
From the French port of Rouen during the week of October 5-11, 38,350 tons of wheat were exported, which is a 63% decrease from the previous week. Among these, 29,900 tons of wheat were sent to Algeria. During the week, 29,380 tons of barley were also exported, including 25,500 tons for China. Additionally, 23,780 tons of rapeseed from Australia and 1,190 tons from Russia were delivered.
In Kazakhstan, 14.6 million tons of grain have been harvested with an average yield of 9.3 tons per hectare. According to APK-Inform's forecast, the total grain production in the country for 2023/24 will reach 15.3 million tons, including 11.2 million tons of wheat.
As per data from FranceAgriMer as of October 9, 2023, in France, 50% of corn areas have been harvested (an increase of 23% during the week and 81% compared to the previous year). Winter soft wheat sowing for the 2024/25 season has been completed on 17% of the planned areas (up by 14% from the previous week and 19% from the previous year), while winter barley sowing has reached 28% (an increase of 22% during the week and 33% compared to the previous year).
According to an estimate by Sparks Polska, rapeseed areas in 2024/25 in Poland will be around 950,000 - 980,000 hectares (compared to 1.1 million hectares in the 2023/24 season).
Over the next 10 days, the Chinese province of Hunan is expected to experience heavy and prolonged rainfall, significantly hindering the sowing of winter wheat. Temperatures are expected to drop significantly, which will impede the ripening of the last rice crop.
Bangladesh plans to purchase 50,000 tons of milling wheat.
Tunisia has purchased 100,000 tons of durum wheat at a price range of 415 to 418.89 USD/ton C&F, with delivery in November.
Egypt's wheat reserves are sufficient to meet domestic demand for the next 4.7%. Vegetable oil reserves are sufficient enough for the next 6.1 months.
