According to data from the Ministry of Agriculture of Russia as of August 9, 2023, winter crops have been sown on 7.6 thousand hectares in Russia (+1.4 compared to 2022). In 2022, the total area sown with winter crops was 17.275 million hectares, and in 2021, it was 18.235 million hectares.
As of August 9, 2023, 17.1 million hectares with various crops have been harvested in Russia (compared to 15.6 million in 2022), which accounts for 35% of all areas. A total of 65.6 million tons of grain have been collected, including 52.8 million tons of wheat (-3% compared to 2022). The harvested area of wheat represents 43.4% of all areas harvested. 7.9 million tons of barley have been harvested (29.4%).
Stratégie Grains has lowered their forecast for the soft wheat production in the EU for 2023/24 by 1.4 million tons to 124.7 million tons (compared to 125.3 million in 2022/23). Jordan has announced a tender to purchase 120,000 tons of feed barley of unspecified origin and 100,000 to 120,000 tons of milling wheat with deliveries in January - February.
